Sports are part of our daily lives. Supporting your favorite team is something that brings a little joy into your life, even when they don’t play brilliantly. For someone that doesn’t make team support a life goal, watching a game is still a way to relax and get your mind off things for a short period of time.

There are lots of sports you can watch. Football, baseball, soccer, basketball are just some of the sports Americans watch on a daily basis. Let’s say a few words about the most popular game in the United States and get an insight about how it’s played.

Baseball has been widely recognized as an American national sport since the late nineteenth century. This is a bat-and-ball game played by two teams of nine players each. Points are obtained after scoring runs, which consists of hitting a thrown ball with the bat, running along a ninety foot square and touching the four markers found at each corner, also called bases.

Each major city has its own baseball team that fans can cheer for. Chicago is home to the Cubs and the White Sox, two baseball teams that play in different leagues. The Chicago Cubs is a Major League Baseball team that is based in Chicago, Illinois. They are owned by the Tribune Company and managed by Lou Piniella, whereas John McDonough and Jim Hendry serve as its president and General Manager respectively. The Cubs and the Chicago White Sox are the two major league teams that are based in Chicago. Both of these clubs are the chartered members of their respective leagues.

After the success of the Cincinnati Red Stockings, the first professional team ever in 1869 several openly professional teams appeared on the scene around 1870. Each team aimed at scoring a victory against the Red Stockings. Several teams adopted different colors and strategies. White was chosen by the Chicago Cubs. A professional league named as the National Association was formed around 1871. it was a first of its kind.

Although the Cubs have seen some overall good seasons, they have failed to achieve the World Series championship title since 1908.

In the 1984 NLCS, the Baseball Cubs (http://www.sportsticketsguide.com/MLB.php) played against the San Diego Padres and managed two comfortable victories on their home ground. However the next three games were to be held in San Diego. Of these the Cubs only required one win to make it to the final. They lost the first of these games by a considerable margin. The fourth game was also lost after Steve Garey hit a winning home run. The fifth game was not any different. But they managed to take a led in the sixth game. But a little error led to the victory of the San Diego Padres that took them into the World Series.

Four years later their opponents were the San Francisco Giants in 1989 NLCS. History repeated itself. They won the first two games and despite having a lead lost three straight games owing to small blunders on the management’s behalf and the players, resulting to their exit from the NLCS.

However they managed to emerge victorious against the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS after 14 years. This win made history as it was their first postseason series win since 1908. After this they managed to win against Florida Marlins at a score of 3-1. it was being assumed that they will reach the World Series after 58 seasons.

A wild card entry entered them into the 1998 playoffs. Two young players, Sammy Sosa and Kerry Wood were main contributors to the teams overall success. Their opponents were once again the Atlanta Braves but they failed to repeat their earlier magic and lost out to the Atlanta Braves in three consecutive games.

Later in the 2006 season the Cubs were once again in a very good form. But unfortunately tan injury to their star player Derek Lee who was their baseman, sent the team into frenzy. They performed poorly and also set a record of scoring just 13 runs in 11 games.

Chicago Cubs Fans Are Annoying 0

Aug4
Chicago Cubs fans really are beginning to get annoying. All I hear now is how it is unfair that the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees have all the money to spend on good players. The fact is though, Chicago Cubs has the third-highest salary in all of major-league baseball. The problem is that there are always just picking the wrong people for a team. You’ve gotta make sure you put a team together that doesn’t have all the different attitudes that do not mesh.

No, this is not your year. Every time you talk to a Chicago Cubs fans you find yourself wishing that you never did. If it is in February they say, this is our year. If it is in June they say, we like to try to play catch up. If it is in September they say, there’s always next year. No, this is not your year and there is not always next year. The way the team is put together there is no chance of bringing a World Series home to Chicago. The best chance is the White Sox, again!

Also, stop saying and talking about how it would be bad if Mark Cuban did end up actually with full ownership of the Chicago Cubs. This would be a good thing! He would use his money on players that will come together and just play the game and not say anything. Mark Cuban knows that this makes the best teams in any sport. If anything needs to be said it will be said by Mark himself. He is not at all scared of speaking his mind to the public and the commissioner.

He won’t ruin the sport of baseball either. He will only make it better. To get an owner that would want to actually sit and be part of his fans would be a pleasure in anything. Then at no time should you Chicago Cubs fans ever complain that your owner does not want it as bad as you do. He’ll be cursing and screaming as much as the other fans because the team is playing terrible. He will also be cheering loudly every game of the season and sitting with the other Cubs fans in the stadium.

The lesson here is that you are being offered everything you need to win a World Series and yet you are complaining about every little thing. The Chicago Cubs fans are becoming worse than Red Sox and Yankees fans themselves. Cubs fans always try to say that everyone comes back on the Yankees bandwagon when they become good again. However, I’ve seen the same thing with Cubs fans this year. No one even talked about the Cubs when they played terrible but as soon as they started to come back in their division and now lead everyone is talking about them again.

Chicago Cubs Tickets – Player Profile: Alfonso Soriano 0

Jul25

People who buy Chicago Cubs tickets for the 2007 season of Major League Baseball will get a chance to see a new face in the outfield, that of Alfonso Soriano. Soriano was brought to Chicago in the off season along with several other free agents, including Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, Cliff Floyd, and Mark De Rosa. The Soriano purchase was an expensive one for the Cubs, but they intend to get a lot out of this proven talent. The season is underway, and it’s too early to actually say whether bringing in Soriano was a good idea or not. That will have to wait for the end of the season. For now, let’s just learn a bit more about the new guy.

Chicago Cubs tickets are never a hard sell in the Windy City, and especially now that they have added a few more recognizable names, including Soriano, tickets should be even more sought-after. How did Soriano get to be so well-known? Most would say that he earned a lot of fans while he was with the New York Yankees, between 1999 and 2003. But how did he get to the Yankees? Well, that’s a story that begins a long time ago, in the year of our Lord 1976 in a small, baseball player-producing town in the Dominican Republic called San Pedro de Macoris. Sammy Sosa and Luis Castillo are both from the same city. Alfonso grew up in the Dominican Republic and was recognized as a supreme baseball talent by the Japanese club called the Hiroshima Carp. He played in a Dominican development camp in Japan, and then briefly for the Carp. The Yankees apparently liked his play, though his average with the carp was a mere .181. They signed him in 1998 as a free agent, and he spent five seasons there, starting out as an infield player. Though Soriano had a nice way of finding his way on base, he apparently struck out a lot, setting a Yankee record in 2002 for strikeouts, and leading the league again in that category in 2003. He also set a Yankee record for most at-bats. He soon became known around the league as a player that, though he might swing at some bad ones, could find his way on base as a lead off man and a very dangerous base stealer.

In 2005 Soriano (and a wad of cash) was traded to the Texas Rangers for Alex Rodriguez. He was selected to the All-Star Game that year. One of his biggest moments as a player was winning the MVP award in that All-Star Game. When he was traded to the Nationals a year later, he was moved to outfield, a position he at first hated, but then grew to love. With his contract ending at the end of the 2006 season, Soriano was one of the most sought-after free agents. The Cubs picked him up, and now you can get Chicago Cubs tickets to watch him play ball in Wrigley Field.
